June 23, 2010, I had the opportunity to hear author and acclaimed educator, Geoffrey Canada speak! For those who are not familiar with his work, he is the founder of The Harlem Children's Zone. On June 23, 2010, he spoke of how it is our responsibility to make sure that our children are graduating and aspiring for bigger and better. I couldn't resist getting a picture with him and of course spreading some Essence cheer! The lights were really bright in the room, but i couldn't resist sharing this picture!
