July 15, 2010, Tamika Hall, Mrs. Maryland Essence 2010 was proclaimed the National Winner of the National Gospel Stage Play Association's 2010 (www.bgplays.com) competition for her original stage play, "How to Love A Saved Man!"
This is what the Assocation had to say about her play:
Once again, the National Black Gospel Play Association has uncovered a rare gem. This time in the form of Tamika Hall in her zestful and enchanting stage play, How to Love a Saved Man.
How to Love a Saved Man follows three women: Charlene Gray, Sony Watkins and Robin Wright. The story depicts each of these women at different stages in their lives and each one has a unique problem: they all are involved with men who are saved. So what’s the issue? Well...
Charlene and her husband Quentin are not seeing eye to eye; literally. As the church’s musical director he is always away at church functions with the pastor. A one time worldly reveler, Quentin is never home because he’s always on church assignments…seemingly.
A Broadway dancer in hiatus, Sony unexpectedly falls for a single dad, Mike. Sony becomes so attached to his easy hand, Christian values and his daughter she loses sight of his wicked wife, Viveca, that he’s been separated from for over a year. She comes back to haunt the two love-birds in a saucy and menacing way.
Robin would rather snuggle face to face with her Blackberry than cater to her committed and loving husband Sheldon. Her work til she drops attitude has seeped in to their relationship to stay. That is until dark secrets she’s been hiding come to light.
How to Love a Saved Man is a splendid and well developed play in every sense and we certainly look for it in the near future on a really big scale. It’s that good.
Join us in celebrating the newest talent in the inspirational play world, Tamika Hall.
